Artist Statement

I never run out of things to make—or arrange—or layer.  I remember stretching 7-foot canvases; now I am content with a box of pastels and a piece of cardboard. My works have become constant marks on objects, and surfaces throughout the house that eventually make it into my studio.  I am constantly claiming canvas throughout the house. Once there, they may remain abandoned for months or even years—till they start to make some sort of sense along with other pieces that may have been deliberately created to accompany it.  The results are triptychs, short visual stories on hard board, and paintings on canvas.  The work often falls from the verge of chaos to a few simple brush strokes that are enough to define a piece. I am content as I visualize the bulk of my life within my work—stories from my childhood, relationships, my own anger, and the everyday weird.
